Eugene Hicks, of North Carolina, was arrested in Hicksville at about 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24, the Nassau County Police Department reported.
Officers were conducting an investigation in the parking lot of 828 South Oyster Bay Road and approached a parked 2016 Chevrolet pickup truck, police said.
Hicks exited the pickup truck and the officers saw a knife in his pocket, NCPD said.
Police recovered the knife and found that Hicks was also in possession of a loaded 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun and an unlabeled orange pill bottle, authorities reported.
Police said the pill bottle contained the following:
- Thirteen yellow capsule-shaped pills believed to be Tramadol Hydrochloride
- Four white round pills believed to be Acetaminophen and Oxycodone Hydrochloride
- Two white capsule-shaped pills believed to be Acetaminophen and Hydrocodone Bitartrate
- One blue rectangular pill believed to be Alprazolam
NCPD said Hicks was charged with:
- Criminal possession of a firearm
- Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Four counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
His arraignment was scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 25, police said.
